Database Observability Review
You can't optimize what you can't see. We assess your database observability against the questions that actually matter — and specify exactly what to add.
The problem
When the database is slow or the bill spikes, can your team answer why — fast, with data? For most teams the honest answer is no. Metrics exist but aren't tied to cost or failure questions. Slow queries aren't captured. Alerts fire on symptoms, not causes. The result: every incident and every cost investigation starts from scratch, and every optimization is a guess because the baseline isn't there.
What we do
We assess your observability against three questions: Can you see what's expensive? Can you see what's about to break? Can you see it in time? We review metrics coverage, query-level insight, slow-query capture, connection and replication visibility, and alerting — then specify exactly what to add and how.
What you get
- An observability gap assessment across metrics, query insight, logs, and alerts.
- A coverage map: which cost and reliability questions you can answer today, and which you can't.
- Specific instrumentation recommendations — what to enable (e.g.
pg_stat_statements, slow-query logging, enhanced metrics), what to collect, and what to alert on. - A baseline plan so future reviews and incidents have trend data.
- A 30/60/90-day action plan.
How it works
Scoping call → read-only access to your current monitoring configuration and a metrics sample → review → report + walkthrough.
Who it's for
Teams that keep getting surprised — by bills or by incidents — and want to fix the blind spots before the next one. Often the best first engagement if your data is too thin to support a full cost review yet.
What this is not
Not a monitoring-vendor resale, not a tool install service. We're tool-agnostic and recommend based on what answers your questions, not what we'd profit from.
